artist bio

Izzie Arrowsmith is a multidisciplinary artist from Walsall, UK and based in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham. Holding a BA in Fine Art from Coventry University, and an MA in Art and Design: Interdisciplinary Practices from BCU, she specialises in printmaking and animation.

Izzie’s practice is primarily concerned with the relationship between human beings and technology through the lens of Posthuman theory. Her work, often taking the form of animated phenakistoscopes, combines traditional and digital processes to explore the liminal space between virtuality and physicality in our increasingly digital society.

In 2023, she completed her first artist residency with Stryx Gallery at their Jewellery Quarter site, from which her studio and commercial practice are also based.

Since the start of 2024, Izzie has enjoyed commercial success creating zoetrope vinyls for musicians represented by record labels such as Sony Music, SO Recordings, and Domino Recordings. She has also displayed her zoetrope animations at exhibitions and music events across the UK, USA, Europe and Asia.
